The Thermic Black coating does not need to be removed before install and should not be removed with brake cleaner; it will wear off in the pad-swept area within the first 10 to 20 stops. The coating is an anti-corrosion layer for long resistance against rust; attempts to remove it are not covered under EBC warranty.
