The GR Corolla has been one of the more fun cars to watch the aftermarket catch up to. People who buy them tend to actually drive them, and a lot of the questions we get are about how to make the car look the part without making it worse to live with.

GROW Design is the brand we keep pointing people to for that. Let's walk through how we'd put a GR Corolla build together around GROW parts, what order makes sense, and some things to check before you order.

Who is GROW Design?

GROW Design is a Japanese aero brand focused on Toyota GR cars. They've also worked directly with GR, Toyota Gazoo Racing, on parts like a sport seat for the GR Corolla, and with FUJITSUBO on an exhaust. That tells you they're not just making body kits in a vacuum. They're working with people who know these cars.

The biggest takeaway: confirm your build date first

Before anything else. GROW makes versions for GR Corollas built from September 2024 onward that are listed separately from the earlier parts. My concern is someone ordering the early version for a later car, or the other way around. Check your build date and compare it to the product page. If there's any doubt, send us your VIN and we'll confirm.

Step 1: Front spoiler

The front is where people notice the change first, so that's usually where we suggest starting. The GROW Design Front Spoiler in Gloss Black gives the nose a more finished look. There's an unpainted version too, but it's a special order, so plan on more lead time if you want it painted to match.

Step 2: Side spoilers

A front lip on its own can look a little lonely. The GROW Side Spoilers carry the line back along the car so the front and rear actually connect. If you're doing the aero in stages, this is a good second purchase.

Step 3: The rear

The back of the GR Corolla already has a lot going on with the triple exhaust. GROW's rear pieces work with that instead of fighting it:

Some people stop at the diffuser and skip the wing. Its really up to you. The wing is the most visible piece, and that's the point for some owners and too much for others.

Step 4: Exhaust

This is the one people ask about the most after the aero. The GROW × FUJITSUBO Stainless Exhaust is a collaboration between GROW and FUJITSUBO, which has been doing exhausts in Japan for a long time. The design ties in with the GROW rear end, so it doesn't look like an afterthought.

Same as any exhaust, know your local rules before you buy, and think about how much you drive the car on the highway. Louder is fun on a back road and less fun on a long commute.

Why this order?

We like front, sides, rear, exhaust for a few reasons:

  • The car never looks half-finished. Each step stands on its own.
  • You spread the cost out.
  • You get to live with each change before deciding on the next one.

The tradeoff is more trips to the paint or body shop if you go unpainted. If you know you want the whole kit, doing it all at once and painting it together can save money and keep the color match consistent.

Painted or unpainted?

Gloss black is the easy route. It's ready to go and it matches the black trim on the car. Unpainted is for people who want everything color matched. It's a special order and you'll need a body shop, so factor that time and cost into the plan.

What about suspension?

A lot of GR Corolla owners lower the car once the aero is on. That's a separate conversation, and we'd rather talk through how you use the car than recommend something blind. GROW has also shown their aero paired with HAL springs on the GR86, which is a good reference for the kind of setup that works with their parts. Here's the GR86 GROW video if you want to see how they approach design and fitment:

What we hear from GR Corolla owners

A pattern we notice: GR Corolla owners tend to want parts that look like they could have come from the factory, just better. Not a wild widebody. Something that looks intentional. That's a big part of why GROW makes sense for this car. Their aero leans clean rather than loud.

The other thing we hear is concern about daily drivability. Front lips and driveways don't always get along. My honest take is that any front spoiler means you'll be a little more careful on steep entrances. Factor that in if you live somewhere with a lot of them.

Budgeting the build

We won't throw numbers out here because pricing changes, but here's how we'd think about the budget:

  • Parts cost, from the product pages or your quote
  • Paint, if you go unpainted, plus body shop time
  • Installation for the aero and exhaust
  • Shipping, especially for larger pieces like the wing

The aero pieces are big and ship that way. When we put your quote together, we'll factor in shipping so there are no surprises.

Install tips

Have the pieces test fitted before any paint goes on, if you're painting. It's a lot easier to address fitment on unpainted parts than after the clear coat is on. And if you're doing the rear diffuser on an earlier car, double check you've got the right hardware listed for it.

For the exhaust, any shop comfortable with GR cars should be fine. Ask them to check clearance around the diffuser if you're doing both.

The next step

Start with your build date and figure out which GROW versions apply to your car. From there, decide how far you want to go. Front only, full aero, or full aero plus exhaust. Send us the list and we'll help you sort out what's in stock and what needs to be ordered.

GR Corolla build fitment: what to check before ordering

The GROW Design GR Corolla parts we carry are listed for the 2023 GR Corolla. The GR Corolla has had different editions, and small changes to bumpers or trim can matter for aero. That's why we keep repeating the same advice: confirm your build date and edition, compare against the product photos, and send us your VIN if anything looks different on your car.

The other gotcha is mixing parts. If you have another brand's lip or diffuser already, a GROW piece may not line up with it. GROW designs the kit to work together, so the cleanest result comes from staying within the kit.

Install difficulty, piece by piece

  • Front spoiler: medium. Test fit, then mount. Two people make it easier.
  • Side spoilers: medium. Take your time lining them up with the doors and wheel arches.
  • Rear wing: medium to hard, depending on how it mounts. Have a body shop handle anything that needs drilling.
  • Exhaust: a normal exhaust swap for a shop with a lift.

Living with it: maintenance and daily driving

The GR Corolla is a car people actually drive in all weather. A few habits help the aero last:

  • Watch steep driveways and parking blocks with a front spoiler.
  • Wash the lower aero like you wash paint. Road grime builds up underneath.
  • Recheck fasteners after the first few weeks.

Tradeoffs: depends on your application

If the car is a daily, painted gloss black parts and a modest look make the most sense. If it's a weekend and track car, you might care more about function and less about scuffs. Neither is wrong. Tell us which one you are and we'll steer you accordingly.

FAQ

Does GROW aero fit every GR Corolla?

Not every part. GROW makes separate versions for cars built from September 2024 onward. Check your build date against the product page or send us your VIN.

Is the unpainted kit in stock?

Unpainted pieces are listed as special order, so expect more lead time.

Do I need to buy the whole kit?

No. Each piece is sold on its own and a lot of customers buy in stages.

Does the exhaust work with the rear diffuser?

They're both designed by GROW for the GR Corolla. Confirm the exact combination for your car with us before ordering.

Is there hardware for the rear diffuser?

There is a separate hardware listing for the earlier diffuser. Ask us and we'll make sure your order is complete.

Will the GROW aero work with the factory GR Corolla rear wing?

Check the product page. GROW offers its own rear wing for the car, and mixing styles can look off.

Next step

If you're putting a plan together, the easiest thing is to add the parts you're looking at to your cart and hit Add to Quote. We'll look it over, confirm fitment and availability, and get back to you. If you'd rather talk it through first, reach out and Tania or Kenia can help with fitment and stock questions. No pressure at all. We'd rather you buy the right part once than the wrong part twice.
